Highlights of the Previous Week
Welcoming newcomers
In the first week a number of activities are organized to make the arrival at our very busy school less stressful:
Grade 8 Pool Party
Grade Eights of 2012 were invited by the School Council to a pool party the day before school was officially scheduled to start. At that party, Grade Eights were told which Houses they would be in, and a number of ice-breakers and there were a number of house challenges to get them into the spirit of things. Furthermore, Wynberg girls were amongst the top ten performers in the Western Province in 9 subjects. We are immensely proud of them all. To see more of this story just follow the link

We are delighted to welcome two exchange students from the USA to WGHS. Kate O’ Brien and Ali Foreman hail from Bethesda, Maryland where they both attend Walt Whitman High School. Kate and Ali will be hosted by the Bell and Curry family respectively. We look forward to getting to know them better as they explore South Africa and become part of the Wynberg family.

Drama
Tayla Van Blerck was recently nominated for the ‘best newcomer’ for the CATA awards (the Cape Amateur Theatre Association) for her play ‘Separate Tables‘ at the Masque Theatre during the end of last year.
Drama Room Cleanup
On 9 January, the Drama Society met at school in order to do some interior decorating. They have been hard at work giving the drama room a make-over. All are encouraged to come and visit the newly revamped drama room! Huge thanks to the labourers for all their help.
