It is breast cancer awareness month. On Friday 13 October, the Interact committee held a “pink” cake sale in the Honours Quad in support of the various causes which provide supportive andย  life saving services to those who have detected this disease. Pink cupcakes, pink lemonade and pink ribbons were sold to promote the cause. Decorations and uplifting music contributed to the festive atmosphere in the quad.

The cake sale was very successful and after twenty minutes, everything was sold out. The profits will be going to Project Flamingo, who raise funds for pamper packs, which are given to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients in Groote Schuur and Tygerberg Hospital. They also provide timely surgeries for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.

The pink ribbons that have been worn around the school since the cake sale by many show Wynbergโ€™s support and consciousness of the value of raising awareness of the disease.
