Wynberg Campus of Schools’ Carol Service

On Sunday 4 December, the Campus of Schools held their annual Carol Service. Punctuating a Christmas story with traditional carols, our students and their teachers brought to us a wonderful carol service. The story brought us a deeply saddened Father Christmas, who felt that adults were neglectful in teaching their children the real meaning of Christmas, and in revealing his sadness, reminded all of its real significance. The story was beautifully told, and the singing – particularly of our girls – quite exquisite. It is the kind that very quickly brings a lump to the the throat, and a prickling to the eyes.

Berthold Auerbach said “Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” This has to be said of the service put together by the music departments of our four schools, and headed up by Liezel Opperman. It was a wonderful occasion.
