Wynberg enters Minquiz Competition

Jessica Hawkridge, Lauren Mitchell and Lindsay Powell participated in the MINQUIZ at the Stellenbosch University Engineering Faculty on 8 May. Minquiz is South Africa’s premier annual national science competition for Grade 12 learners.  Accompanied by Mrs Moerat, the trio arrived at registration and were met with a pack of free items, including a t-shirt. This generosity was continued through a steady supply of food given out throughout the day. The students each wrote the written quiz, facing the challenge of conquering 45 questions in 45 minutes.  After attempting to sink their teeth into this, as well as more food, they were ushered into a hall.

A MINTEK representative spoke about his company and a university lecturer discussed examples of opportunities for engineers with this line of work. Unfortunately, the Wynberg Girls’ team did not make it into the oral quiz, however, individual results are still unknown and there is still the possibility for advancement.
