Wynberg excels at Interschools’ Athletics Meet

On Monday 20 February 2017, the Wynberg Girls’ athletics team made history at the annual A-Section Interschools athletics meet.

The event, held at the Bellville Velodrome, included a full day of competition between 10 schools, namely Mondale, Heathfield High, Plumstead High, Steenberg, South Peninsula High, Fish Hoek High School, Cedar House, Herchel, Grassdale and a combined Wynberg Girls’ and Wynberg Boys’ team.

Our team did exceptionally well and certainly gave us reason to be both proud and delighted when we were placed second overall at the end of the day – the best result we have ever achieved in this section!

A number of our athletes placed in the top three of their events with 17 Wynberg girls qualifying for the next round. Our school’s athletes placed in the top three of 29 events, showing that all of our hard work and training really does pay off.

A huge congratulations must go out to entire team for giving their best and showing good sportsmanship throughout the day. Wynberg showed great team spirit, despite being vastly outnumbered by the other schools and at the end of the day, we achieved what we came to achieve.

Well done to the following girls for qualifying for the next round, held Friday 24 February:
