Ashley Downs chats to the 1st Waterpolo and Swimming Teams

Ashley Downs, (WBHS Old Boy), chatted to the 1^st Waterpolo Team as well as the Swimming Team about the benefits of wearing compression wear after training sessions and competitions.

Things he spoke about were:

• Increasing oxygen transport and delivery to the working muscles
• Assisting in removal of lactic acid from working muscles
• Accelerating venous return to the heart
• Ensuring greater mechanical efficiency by allowing less muscle vibration
• Assisting with temperature control

Apart from the very informative talk, the real reason for Ashley’s visit was the very generous sponsorship of  all Wynberg Girls’ High School 1^st Teams by Medac and Rocket Compression wear.
