On 22 September 2012, our Interact society attended a workshop held by Wynberg Rotaract at Groote Schuur High School. The event was attended by various Interact societies, where we were able to network and share ideas amongst ourselves. The workshop allowed us, as the incoming committee, to navigate the path we want to take for the upcoming term of office with special talks on PR and marketing, being a Secretary, Treasurer or President.

We were introduced to new initiatives that our respective Interact societies could get involved in; such as Learn to Earn, Life Straws and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. We also celebrated the 50th anniversary of Interact with a very special cake 🙂 We also had to hand in our toiletries for the challenge posed by Rotaract. Although we had brought in a lot of goods, other schools brought in more. We certainly aren’t ready to admit defeat and decided there and then to continue our drive until next term! Then the competition amongst the schools started heating up when we were challenged to come up with ideas for annual Rotaract Fun Day in March. In my unbiased opinion, our idea was by far the best!

The workshop was a wonderful learning and networking experience.. The Rotaract workshop definitely helped us to get settled into our positions of office and to gather new and exciting ideas for the year ahead.
