On Tuesday 25 January, after just a week of orientation and adapting to tutor groups, houses and the academic demands of high school, our Grade Eights were formally welcomed into the school. This welcome took the form of a special assembly, to which Grade Eight parents, staff and the senior members and leaders of the school were invited.
On this occasion, the Grade Eights were reminded of what it means to be 'a Wynberg girl', and the privilege that this entails. They were reminded of the choice all Wynberg girls have made in electing to wear this uniform, to attend this school and to embrace our code of conduct.
All Grade Eights were given a pledge by their Matric Leader, which they have been asked to look at - with their parents - and to which to commit themselves. Each Grade Eight was given a school badge by her Class Tutor. It is given in an act of trust, and the Grade Eights, in receiving the badge, accept what it is to be a Wynberg girl.
