On 10 September, 45 learners wrote the 2nd round of South African Mathematics Olympiad, the results of which we received last week.
This Olympiad is one of the biggest in the country, with approximately 100 000 candidates entering from around the country. Lara Mills (in Grade 12) did us proud and came to the 59th position in Western Cape.
Based on the first and second-round results of SAMO Olympiad, the following 11 learners were invited to take part in the interprovincial mathematics team competition.

We congratulate them on this fantastic achievement.
On Saturday 17 October, learners will be competing as a ‘Cape Town Southern Suburbs’ team made of 9 schools in the area - Herschel, Rondebosch, Rustenburg, SACS, Westerford, Wynberg Boys' High, Wynberg Girls' High, Reddam Constantia and the International School. The competition will take place in SACS, between 10:00 to 13:00. Ms Kim will be there to supervise the learners and to help with the organisation/marking.
We wish them a huge amount of fun and the very best of luck in this competition as they enter this battle of minds against their peers.
