There is much joy in recognising our common humanity.

On Friday the 26 October a few of the girls from Constantia got together after school to make soup for a project called Tree-mendous (Tree-Mend-Us) part of the Non-Profit Organisation called Street People Social Development. Tree-mendous feeds homeless and disadvantaged people on Wednesday evenings. The organisation meets under a tree in Bergvliet near Westcott Primary and feeds about 60-80 people in one evening.

There were smiles all around, while girls chopped vegetables and mixed steaming pots of soup. We managed to make about 17 ice cream containers full of soup which we froze until Tuesday evening when it was collected by an ex-Wynberg Girl. There were also excess raw vegetables which were donated to Tree-Mend-Us to use in future soup kitchens.

The girls really enjoyed the afternoon of giving back, and we are looking forward to our next service day.
