On the evening of 12 September, a significant number of our past pupils met at the Aileen Currie Hall for convivial catch-ups and canapés. Although there was a wide range of years represented - from the mid 1950's to 2017, particularly special groups gathering were those who matriculated in '68 and '88.
Some of our guests were given personal tours of the school in view of the significant structural changes to the school, and there was very little doubt that the marrying of the educational needs of the 21st century (and its impact on creative and imaginative learning spaces) to the preservation of the rich history and beautiful old buildings was good match in the eyes of our Alumnae. Welcomed by our Alumnae Chair, Deidre Schultz and addressed briefly by Dee Cawcutt and Shirley Harding, principals of the two schools, the focus of the evening quite clearly was catching up.
Members of the music department provided some beautiful background music in a space that was simply and elegantly decorated. Over the course of the evening, conversations flowed as did the food, wine and time. Our generous sponsors this year included Spier, Buitenverwachting and the Woodstock Gin Company.
It is always a very special and very happy event, and invariably leaves us enormously impressed with the achievements of our former pupils. S
