Congratulations to our budding creative writers and language enthusiasts!

English Department has received some very pleasing results from the two SACEE inter-schools’ competitions and the English Eisteddfod which took place earlier in the year.

Although we would like to congratulate all learners who participated, we would, especially like to praise those on the list below, and, in particular, the gold award winners of the SACEE very short story competition where learners had to write a typical short story of their choice using no more than 100 words and the diploma winners in the Eisteddfod creative writing section. Nur Haroun in Grade 11 brought even more accolades to WGHS by winning the best writing award in the 16-18 age group. Isabella Smuts took third position amongst all the grade 8s from various school who wrote the SACEE Language Challenge.

We were also informed that WGHS won the category for the most diploma awards in the English Eisteddfod writing section.

Well done to all! For the full list of winners, please click here.
