The Hostel Weekenders were treated to dinner at one of Cape Town’s best kept secret burger joints.
Since Cape Town decided not to give us a warm and sunny spring day, our plans of frolicking in idyllic parks or capturing a beautiful sunset were scuppered. We were determined our moods would not be ruined by the weather. What could renew our faith would be a gourmet meal, and of course, our trusty Sis Val knew the right place.
We all dressed to impress with masks to match (of course) and hopped into the school minibus, just as our neighbourhood started load shedding.
In a narrow alleyway in Gardens, you might just mistake this restaurant for a panel beater shop because that's what it used to be. Through its gritty exterior we were led inside and greeted by a charming atmosphere, walls covered with unique artwork and draped in an odd array of lampshades.
There was no need to rush back to a load shedding Hostel, so we spent the night drinking milkshakes and eating the largest burgers in the city, burgers as big as one's face!
We are sure you are just salivating to know the name of this true Cape Town gem…. well it wouldn’t be one of the best kept secrets if we went around telling people. Some secrets just need to be kept!
A huge thank you to Sis Flo, Sis Val and Ms Wallace for making this possible at such short notice!
