New friendships arose in the visiting hours at Maitland Cottage, and all are the richer for it.
A few girls from Cavanagh visited Maitland Cottage on Saturday, 17 February. Maitland Cottage is an orthopedic children's hospital that works in conjunction with the Red Cross Children's hospital.
The group decided to spend the hour in the girls ward where the patients range in age from 2 to 13. We spent quality time with the girls, either reading books with them or helping them colour in pictures. Towards the end of our visit, we also painted the girls nails and we gave each other little makeovers. Both of us were sad when the time was up, but we truthfully promised that we would be back the following week.
It was an amazing experience and we can’t wait to do it again in the weeks to come.
