The Annual National Girls' Schools Sport and Cultural Festival 2012 Kicks off on Thursday 26 April with 39 Girls' Schools attending. This is a huge number of schools considering that when Wynberg and Rustenburg initiated this festival back in 2000, it consisted of a mere 6 schools.
Over the last 12 years, the Festival has grown both in the number of schools as well as the number of activities being offered. The festival has been hosted by 9 different schools in the last 12 years.
The festival includes:
Sport: Hockey, Netball, Tennis and Squash
Culture: Debating, Public Speaking, Chess, One-Act plays and for the first time this year, Visual Art and Vocal Ensemble.
54 Learners from Wynberg will be travelling to Potchefstroom to participate in Hockey, Netball, Public Speaking, Chess, Visual Art and the Vocal Ensemble.
The learners will be flying to OR Tambo Airport and then they will have a transfer through to Potchefstroom, where the festivities are set to start early Friday morning.
We look forward to following the progress of our teams on the school website, Facebook and Twitter.
We wish them safe travels and success on the sporting fields and in the various cultural activites.
