Captain of the First Hockey Team reports on the results an early match against Argentinian Touring Team.
On Thursday afternoon, 7 February, the first hockey team played a match against a side from Argentina.
The game started at 15:30, with the temperature reaching to a high of 38 degrees. Although the weather was not in our favour, the team was ready to play its first match as a team.
As the girls were about to start the game, they were told that they would be playing three different games, each for 25 minutes against three different Argentinian teams. This motivated the girls even more and they were ready to start the first game for the afternoon.
The first game ended in a 1-0 loss but the Wynberg team made a comeback and turned the tables, winning 1-0. The girls knew that they had to give one last push and that it was working together as one that would ensure ensure success. The third game started, with Wynberg being faced with an opponent with fresh legs. With concerted efforts from both sides, the game ended with a 0-0 draw.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed the game and are excited about the upcoming season!
