The Discobolus Award is one of the pillar trophies awarded to students for outstanding achievement in the sports pillar.
The recipient of the Discobolus award goes to someone who has, from the moment she arrived at Wynberg, been an asset to the school.
In her short time at Wynberg she has been selected for three A teams, in three different sporting spheres.
No matter what the playing field is, she excels.
When she is in the swimming pool she scores goals,
When she is on the hockey field, she scores goals, and
When she is on the squash court, she plays winning shots.
She is part of our u14A Waterpolo team, our u14A Hockey Team as well as in our 1st squash team. As a member of the School Squash team, she helped Wynberg win through to the Top Schools Finals in Kwa-Zulu Natal later this year – an event last achieved 7 years ago.
She is a motivated, determined, dedicated, driven learner who not only represents Wynberg proudly, but represents Western Province in three of these sports. I don’t think it will be long before we read that she is representing South Africa in one of these fields.
Lizl Everts may not be here today to receive her award, but she is a most worthy recipient of this award.
